September Newsletter

Dear Families,

We’re almost a month into school and students are doing great! We already see huge growth in all of our students in learning their academic routines.  We appreciate everyone’s support and flexibility as we made it through an extremely hot week and look forward to much cooler temperatures next week.

This past Wednesday, we held our first annual Lion’s Den.  It was a great way to get students together and introduce our monthly focus, having a growth mindset.  Each month we will be introducing skills and strategies to help students continue to grow academically, socially and emotionally.

Due to limited space in our temporary office, we ask that you wait outside if you are picking up your student during the school day. We will send your student out to you. If it is raining, you can pull up in your car and an office staff member will walk your student out.  Also, the office is a bit challenging to get to for students, so please make sure to pack water, lunches and anything else your student might need for the day.  We will be running items to class at 10 AM and will do our best to continue to deliver during the day based on our staffing. We appreciate your understanding as we wait for our beautiful new office to be finished!

Next Tuesday, September 13th, is our Back to School Night starting at 5 PM.  We’re excited to welcome families back on campus for this event.  A friendly reminder that this event is designed for adults, so we request students stay home if at all possible. Below is the schedule for the evening:

5:00 PM: Welcome/Principal’s Message

5:20 PM: Transition to Classes

5:30-5:50 PM: First Session

5:50 PM: Transition to Next Session/check out specials/HSC booth

6:00-6:20 PM: Second Session

6:20-6:30 PM: Check out specials/HSC booth

6:30 PM: Campus Closes

If you have not already done so, please take a minute to complete our school meal application  Our goal is to have 100% completion!

Our HSC is excited to host Nordstrom’s Fall Fest on September 23rd.  This is a great community event which involves students, families, and staff. Details have been shared through Parent Square and more information will be shared over the next few weeks.  Please see the attached flyer with more details!

We appreciate your patience as we continue to work through our construction.  The parking lot is starting to have a great flow for drop-off and pick-up and, even with the extreme weather this week, students were able to get on and off campus safely.  Thank you to everyone for having a patient attitude during pick-up!

As always, we appreciate your support, especially over this past week.  Our staff truly love coming to work each day and love being a part of our Nordstrom community.  We look forward to seeing you all this Tuesday!
