November Newsletter

Dear Families,

October at Nordstrom was filled with energy and excitement as we celebrated Pink Week and Halloween as a school community. Having our campus filled with families for the costume parade was wonderful; and we are so proud of the students for showing the Nordstrom way throughout the day.  A special thank you to all of the families that stayed around and helped make the celebrations feel extra special for our students.

This month is a busy one! We have conferences, minimum days, a holiday break and the book fair.  Please make sure to check Parent Square on a regular basis for all of the upcoming events and updates. We will also be celebrating Native American Heritage Month, where we recognize and celebrate the American Indian and Alaskan Native community.  We will spend the month sharing the rich and diverse traditions, cultures, and history of the Native people.

Conferences will be the week of November 15th-November 19th.  There is no school for students on November 15th, but teachers will be holding conferences during that day.  All conferences will be held via zoom, so please make sure to connect with your teacher if you have not received a zoom link at this point.  Sign-ups are done through Parent Square and have been open since October 25th.  Our site goal is always 100% participation in conferences, so please make sure you have signed up and are ready to discuss the progress of your student.

Thanks to the support of our HSC, we are excited to announce the Scholastic Book Fair will be here November 16th-November 19th.  Things will work differently this year as we continue to follow Covid guidelines.  All classes will have a walkthrough during the school day and after school shopping will be available for our K-3rd grade students.  4th and 5th graders will shop during their classroom visit time.  This year we will have an e-wallet feature that will allow you to load money through the scholastic website for your student to access while they are at the book fair.  More details will be shared over the next two weeks from your classroom teacher and room parent.

  • If your student is home sick due to Covid symptoms, we continue to require a negative Covid test before returning to school. This can either be a PCR or a rapid test that is administered in the health office.  We appreciate all of the families that followed these guidelines closely to minimize exposures on campus.
  • Our on-site testing is up and running! We are now able to test staff and students if it is determined they are a close contact.  If your child is a close contact, you will receive an email from the principal with the steps needed to register your student for testing.  We will not test students without parent/guardian permission.
  • We will continue to notify students, staff, and families if they are a close contact and we will continue to send a school-wide notification when a positive student case is identified on campus.
