April Newsletter

Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe we are entering the last two months of the school year. It has been a great year already, with lots to celebrate as we start to return to “normal”. In this process, we’ve been able to keep amazing parts of our school that have worked for years and change aspects to better fit the needs of our students. Through it all, we truly appreciate all of your support and feedback!

We are looking forward to bringing back our Multicultural Festival on April 28th. This event will take place during the school day and we still have space for more countries to be represented. If you are interested, please join us for our planning meeting tomorrow, April 6th from 10-12 PM. Here is the link for the meeting:

If you are unable to attend, but would like to be a part of the festival, please send me an email and I will communicate the details you need to participate.

A huge thank you to our Home and School Club! They have been working so hard planning community events, starting with our Freezie Fridays. Just a reminder, every Friday after school HSC will be selling freeze pops at the park gate for $1. We look forward to sharing more details soon about our upcoming book fair and movie night.

The Apex Fund Run is coming back! Our event will kick-off on May 10th and our run day will be May 18th. Please read the family letter for details. More information will be shared the week of May 2nd. We will need lots of volunteers for the event day so be on the lookout for a sign-up in the next few weeks.

Our statewide testing will occur the first two weeks in May. Students in 3rd-5th grades will be taking assessments in math and English language arts. Our 5th graders will also be assessed in science. Please see the recent Parent Square post for more information. If your child is in a testing grade and you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Green. Our students are going to be rockstars showing what they know!

If you have not ordered Spring pictures, a friendly reminder that all orders are due this Friday, April 8th. If you have any questions, please reach out to your classroom teacher.

IMPORTANT DATES:
April 11th-15th: Spring Break
April 18th: No School; Spring Break
April 19th: Return from Spring Break
April 25th-April 29th: Book Fair
April 28th: Multicultural Festival
April 28th: Open House at 6 PM
May 10th-May 18th: Apex Run

Finally, as we enter Spring Break, we will be handing out COVID testing kits again. A message will be sent through Parent Square by Lanae Bays with instructions and when to test. Our last campaign in February was a success and resulted in zero school exposures the week we returned. We’re hoping this will be the case again!

We wish you all a wonderful, relaxing break. We hope you enjoy this time with your families and we look forward to seeing everyone rested and ready to learn on April 19th.

Best,
Breanna Cull Garner Green
